Minimizes Trading Losses
1. Stop Loss setting
Stop Losses are one of the most important risk-management settings we've incorporated into Hedgehog Pro, yet less than 5% of all grid EAs use them.
Having a hard Stop Loss applied to every trade opened by the EA acts as a pressure release valve.
Stop Losses prevent losing trades from getting too far out of whack and creating large drawdowns.
2. Max Orders setting
With the Max Orders setting, you can limit the number of total Buy and Sell trades Hedgehog Pro is allowed to open at any given time (the default is 15).
Using a Max # of Buys & Sells is especially useful if you want to reduce your risk exposure during extended trending market moves.
3. Equity Protector setting
Hedgehog Pro's Equity Protector setting is like a hard stop loss on the entire account.
When it's set to true, the EA will close all trades if your account drawdown percentage you specify (for example, 50%) is ever hit.
If your Equity Protector is ever hit, the EA will completely remove itself from the chart to prevent any further trades from opening.
4. Time & Day Restriction setting
Thursday and especially Fridays are typically the most volatile days of the week.
Running EAs 24/5 days without a filter to prevent new trades from opening on certain days and times usually leads to much higher drawdowns.
This is problematic if you're wanting to be as hands-free as possible with an EA and not have to tinker with things all the time.
So, with Hedgehog Pro we give you the option to turn Thursday and Friday trading on or off.
In addition, we also incorporated Start and End time settings to prevent the EA from getting into trades during the most volatile times of the trading day.
5. News Filter setting

The recommended account minimum is $1,000, but it can be run without our hedging strategy on as little as $500
Pretty much any Non-U.S. MT4 broker will work, but Hedgehog Pro performs best on ECN accounts with at least 1:200 leverage and hedging capabilities.
U.S. brokers are too restrictive and don't qualify because leverage is limited to 1:50 leverage and they don't allow hedging, which is a key requirement for how this bot trades.
If in doubt, use our recommend broker (we'll provide the direct link inside our User Guide) that we and many of our clients have been using for over 4 years. You can always switch brokers at a later date if you choose to.
We used to think the same thing about bots. And for the most we agree - most of them do NOT work long term.
In our experience, all bots need to be monitored on a regular basis, and have the settings occasionally optimized and adjusted, even minimally.
However, the simple underlying hedging strategy Hedgehog Pro uses is evergreen. Meaning, theoretically there's no reason it shouldn't work a year or 5 years from now, and without having to "update" or "tweak" the code.
We do however, optimize the settings and share them with all HHP clients whenever the market dictates some changes.
It's taken us 16+ years of testing over 300 bots and blowing up lots of accounts to realize that sometimes the most profitable algorithmic strategies are the simplest ones with zero A.I. or with lots of bells and whistles.
Yes, you can. However, keep in mind that Hedgehog Pro uses live tick data on lower timeframes.
Live tick data from most brokers isn't reproduced well in backtests, so you'll won't get accurate backtest results unless you use a third party tick data software. This is the one we use.
Hedgehog Pro has a built-in news filter that will automatically prevent it from opening new trades before and after high-impact news events without any manual intervention.
Normally, Hedgehog Pro will stay in a drawdown range of between 10% to 20%, but can push out higher during occasional volatility spikes.
The bot has a built-in Equity Protector setting that allows users to limit their drawdown exposure and losses.
